Where TDLS-2001 Will Be Held?
May 26 1999
Congratulations! We have an Advisory Committee for the meeting in 2001 and
Alexander and I appreciate your agreeing to serve on the committee. The
first item of business is a discussion of where we would like to hold the
next meeting. For various reasons both Sasha and I feel that Moscow is
probably not the appropriate place for the next meeting.
In this e-mail I am soliciting input from each of you. Three suggestions
have been made to date, Zermatt in Switzerland, Connecticut College, and
the third location (Paul Davies, please help me on this) whose name I
forget. In selecting a location I think it is important that we choose a
location which will be most convenient and most interesting for our
European colleagues as our European colleagues have been the biggest
supporters of this meeting in the past. It is for this reason that I
personally am not very excited about Connecticut College, however, if the
committee were to make that decision we could conduct a nice, low cost
meeting.
I look forward to hearing from you within the next two weeks. Thanks for
your careful attention to these details.
Once we have decided where we would like to go, we need to begin to think
about invited speakers.
For your information the preliminary cost figures which I received from
the Hotel Zermatterhof is SFr195. This is a very convenient location, the
hotel is excellent, and the people are extremely efficient.

Paul Davies has given me the information on the other location. It is in
Greifswald Germany. Greifswald is about 100 km north of Berlin on the
Baltic coast. It takes 2hrs 20 minutes by direct train from Berlin. The
accommodation costs are as follows:
Hotel single room 110-170 dm per night
Hotel double room 150-200 dm per night
Boarding House single room 60-100 dm per night
Boarding House double room 100-140 dm per night
Private Room 40-60 dm per night
The other location is Zermatt, Switzerland. The Hotel Zermatterhof cost is
SFr 195 for room and 2 meals per day.
So we have two possibilities so far, and I would appreciate your response
to this e-mail, so we can decide how to proceed.

It seems that Zermatt Switzerland was the consensus for the location for TDLS-2001.
The next item of business is invited speakers. I look forward to hearing from you with
suggestions.
Thanks again for your attention to these details.
